The two most important news stories of the day

Good grief! He surfed a 90 foot what an achievement,

Julius Malema is out of the ANC for 5 years, well that's the sentence before the appeal... here is a quick highlights package of my favorite Malema moment (of which there are many, like we're talking hundreds):

Julius was a massive supporter of our now South African president Jacob Zuma, at one point he made the claim that he would fight and kill for Mr Zuma... Unrad

He was described by many political writers as a political puppet, saying mean things about other prominent rival party leaders as a third external party... he also sang songs about shooting South African farmers... besides the point...

So Nando's released this fantastic advert which was aired in an advert break during the evening news:

To which Julius laughed, and we all thought... hey this guy isn't that bad... hahaha like that really happened, Julius said that he did not appreciate the advert, and asked to "be taken out of it "

Julius was not a happy man, and made a statement threatening to mobilise the people to take militant action against South Africa's second favourite chicken provider if the ads were not withdrawn. In a cheaky but fantastic move Nando's replied:

"We are not afraid and will fight chicken with chicken"

In what was described as an understanding fail, the ANC youth league replied in part of an press release  that they were not afraid of chickens...

Nando's shocked by this incredibly witty response respectfully removed the advert and then auctioned off the Malema puppet:

"After over 700 bids, the controversial dummy star of the Nando’s advertisements and instigator of threats of militant action from the ANC Youth League has been bought for R100 000 by Johannesburg businessman Ryan Lotter." – source IOL

which they then donated to the Self-Help Development Organisation, which helps young men to finish school and study mechanics, woodworking and electrical engineering.
Now the important thing to understand here, is that earlier that year it came out that Julius had failed wood work with a double G which basically means he must have handed in a wooden plank for his final project...
